Production Technician II: Manual Batch

Job Summary
Using computer controlled equipment or mechanical devices, combines proper quantities of materials needed to produce inks/bases as directed; filters finished products into proper containers; operates and monitors production equipment and automation systems; ensures accurate labeling and movement of product to shipping area; corrects out of spec batches to meet QC standards. Meets customer needs to the best of the incumbent’s ability in line with Siegwerk’s philosophy that the customer is the #1 priority. Adheres to all departmental/company policies and standards to include (but not limited to): (1) maintains a neat, clean and safe work area; (2) maintains regular and consistent attendance; and (3) maintains positive working relationships.
Job Responsibilities
Sets up and operates equipment (pre-batch, milling, disperser, and dispensing) per procedures. Monitor equipment for proper operation, function and safety.
Accurately weigh each item/component and combine as directed on the batch ticket; selects proper equipment for processing.
Takes samples of ink to QC Lab. Adjusts batches of ink as needed for quality control.
Properly filter and/or strain large/small batches of ink.
Accurately weigh all containers and sets scale accordingly. Ensures proper containers are used and prepared for shipping.
Pump large/small batches of ink into proper containers. Take measures to ensure accuracy.
Choose appropriate labels and ensure correct labeling.
Perform shipping and receiving duties as needed.
Assist with maintenance when needed.
Thoroughly clean all containers, still & work area including floors, walls and equipment.
Complete product sheets, checking for accuracy.
Communicate status of work to other shifts, as needed.
Prioritize workflow on their assigned machine or equipment.
As needed, serves as back up for other production technicians or other production staff.
May serve as a mentor or “lead” to lower level Production staff.
Perform minor maintenance functions on equipment following the preventative maintenance schedule.
Participate in department meetings regarding a variety of topics, i.e., safety, process improvement, plant operations.
Strictly adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies.
Participate in completion of annual Physical Inventory.
Stop ink shipments if quality is in question and reports to manager.
Other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with a minimum of 6 months production experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
