What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Field Experience and Certification Officer - Siena College position at Siena College?
The Director of Field Experiences is a 12-month position with multiple responsibilities that include, but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and collaborate with partner schools and Siena faculty to initiate, secure, and monitor all education fieldwork placements (foundational fieldwork and student teaching placements).
- Serve as the College's certification officer; stay up-to-date with knowledge of state certification policies/requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues to collect, organize, and analyze Education Department assessment data, especially related to students' fieldwork experiences and certification requirements.
- Oversee and facilitate evaluation of students' participation in foundational fieldwork (i.e., fieldwork prior to student teaching) and student teaching: disseminate and collect evaluation rubrics, follow up on concerns, etc.
- Organize the application process for the Teacher Preparation Program (lead informational meetings, coordinate application materials, co-lead meetings to review candidates). Advise, monitor, and support students who are admitted to the Teacher Preparation Program.
- Advise prospective students, current students, and returning students regarding the Siena's Teacher Preparation Program and New York State teacher certification requirements. Prepare and deliver class presentations to discuss certification requirements. Serve as primary liaison for the Admissions Office (attend open houses, prospective student events, etc.)
- Coordinate alumni outreach and networking: maintain contact with Teacher Preparation Program completers, distribute and collect regular alumni surveys, support alumni in ongoing certification and graduate school pursuits, support alumni interaction with each other and with current Siena students
- Facilitate department logistics and organization related to hiring/supervision of student workers, planning department celebrations, coordinating honor society, managing materials and resources, etc.
Starting salary for this position: $78,680.00 - $82,614.00

Job Requirements:
- A Master's degree in an educational field (earned Doctorate preferred)
- At least 10 years of successful classroom and/or administrative experience at the K-12 level.
- This position requires extensive planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills and a commitment to working effectively with students, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds
- Proficiency with technology - especially MS Office Suite and Google Suite
- Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and insurability at the time of appointment and must maintain such license and insurability throughout the tenure of employment.
- A background screening will be required.
