Job Brief:
The Event Coordinator serves as the one of the key faces of the organization – orchestrating and delivering logistics for events that are the cornerstone of our organization. The individual who represents SCNA/Sierra 2 in this role is a highly organized, reliable and friendly individual who can manage multiple tasks and be able to function in an environment characterized by growth and transition.
With a passion for community and helping others, the individual in this position will present a professional approach, be able to manage multiple projects and collaborate among many internal and external team members.
The Event Coordinator will:
- Assist in the planning, implementation and promotion for all events and festivals for SCNA/Sierra 2.
- Provide exceptional organizational skills, innovative ideas along with creative problem-solving skills
- Engage with community groups, committees and stakeholders to organize and secure volunteers needed for all activities
- Maintain a strong work ethic, flexible schedule and a can-do attitude.
- Provide exceptional customer service to those contacted in the course of work—including other employees, visitors and tenants
Event planning and programming:
- Create and flawlessly execute event planning logistics for all events and meetings
- Secure vendors, equipment and talent
- Manage ticket sales, structure and maintain attendance records along with vendors,talent, artists, catering/food needs.
- Secure permits, photo and volunteer release forms and contracts.
- Maintain flawless records through online platforms
- Assist third party partners with community events, Salvation Army Angel Tree, etc.
Administrative:
- Coordinate sponsor and collaborative opportunities secured
- marketing and outreach opportunities with team members
- Prepare, coordinate, and send routine correspondence and mass mailings
- Coordinating activities with facility lead to assure proper staffing and set up
- Inventory and order event supplies
- Generate and format reports and other documents using a full range of computer software skills including spreadsheets, word processing, desktop publishing, database management, presentation software, etc.
- Answer telephone calls and make outgoing calls
- Take and deliver messages
- Identify, enforce, and adhere to health, safety, and other regulations.
- Maintain confidentiality, especially related to sensitive organizational, customer, and other generally private information.
· Assist with facility bookings, booking payments, and booking calendar as needed.
· Other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required
· 2 years of experience with event planning required preferably working with the general public.
A plus -Associate orbachelor’s degree in fields related to event planning, hospitality or community development a plus.
· Current and valid California Drivers license
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
A candidate for this position should have experience in:
· Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook required
· Strong ability to manage multiple projects at once
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
· Exceptional organizational skills
· Well developed time management skills
Preferred Experience in the arts, theatre, and non-profit arenas
Working Conditions:
· Employee is required to stand, walk, talk, listen, climb, balance, stoop, kneel & sit up to ½ the time.
· Operate equipment including office machines, computers, audio visual equipment, etc.
Work Location:
· On-site - @ Sierra 2 Center, 2791 24th Street, Sacramento, CA 95818
· Occasional site work @ Curtis Park, 3349 W Curtis Dr, Sacramento, CA 95818
This position is 30 hours/week, Monday through Friday, occasional evenings and weekends.

Sierra Curtis Neighborhood Association (SCNA) is a non-profit organization that promotes inclusiveness, awareness, and involvement for a safe, vibrant neighborhood and actively participates in preserving the heritage of and enhancing the quality of life in the Curtis Park neighborhood. In 1981, the neighborhood joined together to save Sierra School, working to transform the building into Sierra 2 Center for the Arts & Community, a regional incubator of the arts, education, culture, and community activities.
We are guided by a dedicated board of directors and staff working to implement programming and events inspired by the organization’s three core values: community, stewardship, and environmental sustainability.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $21.00 - $25.20 per hour
Expected hours: 24 – 30 per week
