SUMMARY

Join one of Lake Tahoe’s most passionate Terrain Park teams to help develop award-winning terrain parks for Sierra-at-Tahoe’s guests. As an experienced grooming operator, you will operate on-snow vehicles to distribute snow on slopes to offer our guests the safest, desirable, and fun terrain possible.

 

Duties and Responsibilities are (but not limited to):

  1. Create the most enjoyable terrain for guests to ski and ride by planning, designing, and executing the creation of terrain features including but not limited to snow features, rails, boxes, adventure zones, and ski school terrain.
  2. Taking accurate record of equipment usage during each shift to ensure all used equipment is operating and functioning in a safe and efficient manner.
  3. Maintain a constant awareness of surroundings and understanding the safest way to navigate equipment by evaluating all directions and safety information available.
  4. Completes all tasks safely with no damage to equipment or to areas of work by evaluating performance as well as feedback from department leaders, team and supervisor.
  5. Maintains a working knowledge of the equipment; how it operates and the safest way to operate the equipment by recording all information and by constant attention.
  6. Maintains a focus on quality of product, awareness of hazards, both personally and to the equipment, and safely executing all functions by evaluating immediate surroundings and keeping distractions inside equipment to a minimum (i.e. radio volume, enough rest, passengers, food).
  7. The proficient use of vehicle attachments like compactor bars, tillers, and blades.
  8. Maintain the assigned equipment in a routine manner.
  9. Keep records of shift operation and all progress towards nightly tasks and special projects.
  10. Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  11. Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisor.
  12. Flexible working hours.


RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY
1. Protect the safety of self, co-workers, and Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort guests at all times.
2. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.
3. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.
4. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures.
5. Operate equipment in a safe manner that will not lead to injury of yourself or others.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.). One-year certificate from a college or technical school and two seasons of Terrain Park grooming experience or a combination of education and experience. Terrain Park Attendant experience is preferred but not required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid State Driver’s License. Resort certification on any necessary equipment.
