What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wave Solder Operator position at Sierra Proto Express?
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Wave Solder Operator is responsible for properly inspecting quality product using techniques to ensure the product quality is respecting the quality standards and specifications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Read and interpret drawings listing all the parts and subassemblies of certain products. The drawing identifies the different components and materials and provides instructions on how to assemble a product.
- Prepare the loaded printed circuits boards for solder operations. Clean the board and mark the designating area.
- Monitor and govern the pyrometer to control the furnace temperature.
- Observe machine operations and evaluate product quality, thereby ensuring conformity to standards.
- Inspect quality products using various techniques to ensure the product quality is respecting the quality standard and specifications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- 2 years’ experience in wave solder operations.
- Ability to read/understand travelers and outside service requirements a plus.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds maximum and stand/walk throughout the day.
- Ability to perform at the highest level in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee must frequently stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The ability to lift 20 lbs., open filing cabinets, and bend, stand, or climb on step ladders as necessary.
ENVIRONMENT:
-Manufacturing facility with exposure to electronics assembly equipment and materials.
-May require working in a controlled environment with specific temperature and humidity requirements.
-Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to perform work.
CA Salary range $22.00 - $25.00 with benefits and perks.
