Shift : Days, 7 : 30am - 5 : 00pm
Bilingual strongly preferred.
Job Description : PATIENT POPULATION :
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY :
Under the direction of the department Leader(s) and the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) performs individually assigned patient care activities based upon established patient care policies and procedures. Specific areas of responsibility include : monitoring of patient vital signs, providing patient hygiene and comfort measures, assisting with medical procedures, fulfilling nutritional needs, and maintenance of a record of the care provided as assigned.
Must be able to work normal / scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of California.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required. Ability to speak English, write legibly, and read, understand and follow directions. Bi-lingual Spanish preferred.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as metric system proportions and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS :
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have and maintain current licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of California.Must have and maintain current BLS Card.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
- Indicates Essential Function
- Cooperates in team planning and execution of that plan to accomplish assigned patient care tasks effectively and safely.
- Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for all patient groups.
3 Transports patient(s) to and from various hospital and / or Nursing units with a pleasant attitude (e.g. Med / Surg to X-ray, ER to Med / Surg; discharging patients).
6 Assists with dietary needs of patients by ordering trays.
7 Provides equipment and supplies for patient, room or procedure as directed (e.g. make beds, stocks supply carts, passes fresh water for patients, stocks soiled utility room).
11 Demonstrates ability to identify and anticipate patient needs.
12 Interacts with patients to determine individual needs and coordinates with R.N. to accomplish. Communicates with Nurse pertinent patient information throughout shift via patient requests and documents appropriately.
15 Documentation reflects compliance with established Hospital policies and procedures.
16 Be in attendance on site and arrive to work on time.
MAINTAINS UNIT ENVIRONMENT :
1 General clean-up and tidiness of patient rooms, kitchen, refrigerator (check daily, clean weekly and prn), lounge, countertops.
2 Equipment is properly prepared for Central Processing pick-up or reuse : bedpans, instruments, I.V. poles, IVAC pumps, VS monitors.
GENERAL DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES :
1 Familiar with Meditech EMR, i.e. demonstrates ability to obtain labs, radiology reports, etc.
2 Demonstrates reverence for life, respect for inherent dignity and worth of each individual, and maintenance of patient privacy and confidentiality.
3 Maintains productivity, within pre-established guidelines.
4 Maintains essential functions for Meditech order entry.
