Shift : Nights, 6 : 45pm - 7 : 15am
Job Description : PATIENT POPULATION :
The patient population served can be all patients, including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and newborn. This also includes services which affect facility staff, physicians, visitors, vendors and the general public.
POSITION SUMMARY :
Responsible directly to the assigned Unit Director. Under general supervision of the assigned R.N. Preceptor, the newly licensed R.N. is assigned patient care activities based upon the individual's learning foundation and their status as a novice.
Under the direct supervision of the R.N. Preceptor, the Novice R.N is responsible for the identification of needs, treatment or care appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Demonstrates the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs. Possesses knowledge of growth and development and has an understanding of the range of treatment needed for these patient groups.
The New Graduate / Novice R.N., under the direct supervision of a qualified R.N. Preceptor, may perform any function previously learned which may include but is not limited to, total body assessments and medication administration. The Novice R.N. will not be assigned individual nursing responsibilities and functions which are beyond the measured competence of their abilities. Responsibilities will be commensurate with the New Graduate's level of competence and within the policies at Sierra View Medical Center (SVMC).
Must be able to work normal / scheduled working hours to include Holidays, call-backs, weeknights, weekends, and on-call. Agrees to participate, as directed, in emergencies and community disasters during scheduled and unscheduled hours. As a designated disaster service worker you are required to assist in times of need pursuant to the California Emergency Services Act.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have successful completion of orientation to area which assigned. Must be currently licensed as a New Graduate R.N. in California. Must have and maintain current BLS certification within orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence if required.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages if required.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic computer skills.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS :
Must be currently licensed as a New Graduate R.N. in California. Must have and maintain current BLS certification within the orientation process, prior to hands-on patient care.
