Job Overview
Sigman Veterinary Clinic in Covington, GA is seeking a part time veterinary assistant/receptionist to join our team! We are looking for a reliable, dependable, and compassionate person with excellent communication skills who is capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast paced environment. Must have prior veterinary assistant or veterinary receptionist experience. $13-$14/hour, pay negotiable with experience.
*This position is roughly 15-25 hours per week, including some Saturdays.
Assistant Duties include but not limited to:
- Day to day care of hospitalized patients, boarders, and facility.
- Effectively and safely restrain dogs and cats.
- Assist doctors and licensed technician in exam rooms, with treatments, and diagnostic procedures such as restraining for exams, blood draws, and catheter placements; taking radiographs, prepping for surgeries, surgical patient monitoring (only if experienced), etc.
- Run in-house lab equipment (IDEXX). Handle appropriate lab samples for in-house testing and reference lab testing.
- Dispensing and administering oral medications as directed.
- Familiarity with veterinary/medical terms and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives.
- Basic knowledge of vaccines and common veterinary procedures.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs. Will have assistance as needed.
- Excellent client communication skills. Ability to maintain a positive attitude and cooperative working relationship with fellow staff members.
Receptionist Duties include but not limited to:
- Manage multiple phone lines, direct and screen calls, and relay messages.
- Schedule appointments for all clinic services.
- Provide accurate information to callers without providing medical advice.
- Promptly address all client concerns and remain polite and professional when interacting with clients over the phone, in person, and via email.
- Greet and interact with clients and pets in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Utilize the computer system and veterinary software program (Intravet).
- Prior experience with Care Credit is ideal.
- Maintain proper documentation with client/pet records.
- Basic math and accounting skills – ensure all client transactions are collected accurately and completely.
- Process prescription requests per veterinarian instructions.
- Maintain hospital cleanliness in common areas of the office.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
