What You Will Do:
The Nuclear Safety/Criticality Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as a Senior Nuclear Safety Specialist (an on-site subject matter expert). The SME supports oversight of contractor maintenance of the nuclear facility safety bases for operating HC-2 and HC-3 Nuclear Facilities, as well as HC-2 and HC-3 Nuclear Facilities undergoing Deactivation and Decommissioning for the DOE Office of Environmental Management. For facilities undergoing Deactivation, these activities include characterization of fissile material holdup in facility process and auxiliary equipment/systems, Demolition and demolition debris transportation to on-site and/or off-site waste disposal facilities.
What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
- B.S in Engineering or a hard science such as Physics, and a minimum of 20 years of directly relevant professional experience
- Proficiency of, and skill in applying engineering or physical science knowledge base (e.g., Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER training is desirable
- Some travel may be required
- This is an on-site position
- This Position requires the incumbent to be a U.S. citizen and have an active or be qualified to obtain a DOE L clearance. This position has been identified as a Drug Testing Designated Position. Incumbent is subject to testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
