Position Overview:
We are seeking a shop assistant to assist in the daily operations in our print and fabrication department. This position will be a “floating” position and will assist with a wide range of processes in our facility such as printer operation, plotter operation, vinyl application, shop maintenance, sign fabrication, and sign installation. This position requires a combination of creative capabilities, technical proficiency, and attention to detail in order to deliver exceptional signage solutions that exceed our clients' expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the production and installation of custom signs (e.g., vinyl, banners, sign faces, channel letters, illuminated cabinets, etc.).
- Help prepare materials for sign fabrication, including cutting, laminating, weeding, and printing.
- Operate machinery such as plotters, digital printers, and laminators.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring tools, materials, and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
- Assist with the installation of signs at client locations as needed.
- Assist with inventory management, including keeping track of materials and supplies and notifying management when reordering is necessary.
- Follow safety protocols and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Time Management and Coordination:
- Manage multiple design and printing projects simultaneously, effectively prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Communicate proactively with supervisor and internal teams
- Collaborate with colleagues to streamline workflow processes, improve efficiency, and maintain a high level of productivity.
Quality Control and Maintenance:
- Inspect products for quality and functionality, making any necessary adjustments to ensure they meet standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the print shop, including regular maintenance of printing equipment.
- Monitor inventory levels of materials and supplies, reporting any shortages or discrepancies to management.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a sign shop is a plus, but is not required
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high quality work
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to read a tape measure up to a tolerance of 1/16”
- Valid drivers license
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Comfort working in confined spaces, at heights, and in outdoor environments.
- Flexibility to work extended hours and weekends as needed for installations.
Work Schedule:
- This is a full-time position, with a standard workweek of 40 hours.
- Occasional flexibility may be required to accommodate project deadlines or client meetings.
