Our Production CAD Designers are a pivotal part of our design team, providing drafting expertise toward the design and development of sign cabinets. In this role, you will use SolidWorks software to produce sign cabinet drawings. Work is performed in a safe and organized work area, and projects are completed according to customer design specifications under the guidance of a project manager.
This position offers 40-50 hours of work per week, with a salary range between $50,000 and $80,000 annually, depending on experience. The role also has the potential to grow into a management position.
Essential Job Functions
- Design parts to be sent to CNC for cutting directly from SolidWorks.
- With supervision, set up parts for CNC routers to cut aluminum, focusing on lean and efficient design while maximizing sheet utilization (minimizing waste).
- Review and confirm correct set-up for drawings, ensuring all cut paths are accurate.
- Plan and create detailed CAD drawings with isometric views to guide production, including clear dimensioning for fabrication.
- Serve as an information resource for clarifying designs or drawings, working closely with production and project managers.
- Provide technical support to project managers, shop managers, and the design and production teams, including creating customer drawings for approval.
- Contribute to identifying and implementing Best Practices and preferred processes, improving design and CNC techniques continually.
- Prepare sign-off drawings with supervision.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.
Job RequirementsLicenses/Certificates/Education
- CAD – SolidWorks training required.
Attendance and Environment
- Regular attendance is required.
- Work is mostly performed at a desk using SolidWorks but may require walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and crouching for sign inspections on the shop floor.
- Must be able to tolerate noisy environments when on the shop floor.
Education and Work Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; a CAD degree is highly preferred.
- At least two years of experience using CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, or related software.
- One year of machining or experience with CNC router cutting/setup or laser cutting is very helpful.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.
Work Schedule
- 40 - 50 Hours a week
- Flexibility for Saturdays may occasionally be required based on workflow demands.
