This position will oversee the Small Business program and supervise the Small Business Support Specialists. This individual will also support the education, business and training needs of childcare directors and their local community, as they pertain to opening and maintaining a small business.
This position must live in and travel frequently throughout the assigned TN region.
Qualifications:
- Must have Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Education, Early Childhood Education, Family and Consumer Sciences or related field, Master’s Preferred.
- Three years of management experience required.
- Five years of experience in this or related field required.
- Experience training and coaching adult learners.
- Excellent writing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Physical examination and record of negative TB test results must be on file with Signal Centers.
- Dependable transportation, valid driver’s license and insurance required.
- Willingness to travel statewide, work some nights and weekends.
- Must be able to work from a remote home environment within the state of TN.
- All applicants are required to undergo a background check that ensure they are eligible to enter and work in child care centers in the state of Tennessee.

Under the direction of the Deputy Director of Quality Assurance and Child Care Business Services, the Small Business Support Coordinator will have the following responsibilities:
- Establish guidelines and procedures for the Small Business Support program
- Provide statewide supervision for Small Business Support Specialists through meetings, conference calls, virtual meetings, and on-site visits
- Onboard new SBSS into the CCR&R network to prepare them for coaching and training including attending New Hire Orientation
- Lead and assist with the delivery of the Small Business Academy, New Director Academy, and Administrator Specialization
- Assist with the support provided to agencies seeking national accreditation
- Identify best practices for child care business operations including working with new child care business owners and/or directors
- Understand and communicate the criteria for becoming licensed with TN DHS
- Collaborate with DHS Pre-Licensing unit to ensure alignment of services
- Support and promote best practices as recognized by the National Center on Early Childhood Quality Assurance
- Support the establishment of director peer learning groups
- Connect with local Chambers of Commerce and Small Business Development Centers to help identify small business opportunities in early child care
- Train CCR&R staff, center-based, family and group child early childhood professionals, DHS staff, and other DHS or funder-requested groups
- Provide training, coaching, and technical assistance at times most convenient for our child care agencies and partners, which will require work on weeknights or weekends.
- Provide in-person training, coaching, and technical assistance to adult learners in both large group, small group, and individual settings.
- Participate in CCR&R Network Management meetings, local staff and partner meetings and other meetings called by DHS or partners.
- Serve as facilitator for Train-the-Trainer Institutes and Supplemental Trainings as requested.
- Author content for CCR&R newsletter/social media/website as requested.
- Collaborate with applicable State agencies.
- Achieve and maintain First Aid/CPR instructor certification provided by CCR&R.
- Achieve and maintain AIMHi ™ endorsement.
- Positively market the CCR&R Network to the community.
