Signal Centers is seeking a hands-on, dependable Facilities Maintenance Technician to support the upkeep, safety, and functionality of our facilities. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys problem-solving, working independently, and supporting an organization that serves individuals and families of all abilities.
Schedule: Monday–Friday Day Shift
Some evening/weekend work may be required for events and special projects.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED required; must be at least 18 years old.
- Two-year technical certification or associate degree in a maintenance-related field preferred.
- Minimum of one year of experience in building maintenance or a construction-related field (school/institutional experience a plus).
- Basic knowledge of building systems including painting, carpentry, drywall, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and operating maintenance equipment safely.
- Ability to install smart/assistive tech devices and learn new technology quickly.
- Ability to work from ladders and scaffolds, including rooftop access.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive a company van as needed.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email, and internet use.
- Ability to follow procedures, manage time independently, and work effectively across departments.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a professional and courteous demeanor.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs safely and regularly.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl, climb, kneel, and work in physically demanding environments.
- Must be able to operate vibrating tools and equipment.
- TB skin test and physical exam required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance and repairs across all Signal Centers locations, including Germantown Road, Bailey Avenue, and the Retail Center Annex.
- Complete assigned work orders in a timely, efficient, and safe manner.
- Operate a company vehicle to perform maintenance at satellite facilities.
- Conduct preventative maintenance on systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and roofing; report findings to the supervisor.
- Change filters, light bulbs, and other routine maintenance items as scheduled.
- Install assistive technology devices as needed (e.g., Amazon Ring doorbells, smart home devices), which may require occasional travel during work hours to off-site locations.
- Move, assemble, and install furniture and equipment as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of exterior and interior spaces, ensuring entrances, hallways, and emergency exits remain clean and clear.
- Support building security by opening/closing buildings.
- Keep supply rooms stocked with necessary items (e.g., soap, gloves, hand sanitizer, paper products, etc.).
- Assist with event setup/teardown and participate in agency-related activities, which may occur outside of standard working hours.
- Provide courteous and timely responses to staff and building occupant needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
