Communications Director and Pastoral Administrative Assistant
Signal Crest United Methodist Church, Signal Mountain, TN
Part-time hourly, approximately 20 hours per week.
Reports to the Senior Pastor
This position includes a combination of administrative, communications, and financial responsibilities as follows:
Communications
- Serve as Staff Liaison to the Communications Committee and work closely with Communications Committee Chair to outline and implement year-round, multi-channel marketing strategies to support the Signal Crest brand experience
- Develop and manage an annual communications budget
- Compile content and design weekly church bulletins and e-newsletters
- Facilitate email distribution of ad hoc messages (i.e. obituaries, weather alerts, etc.)
- Manage printed communications and inventory of collateral materials (i.e. stationary, signage, business cards, etc.)
- Produce graphics, or work with graphic designers, to obtain images and/or graphics for church publications
- Create and manage electronic and social media communications, including administering and maintaining church website
- Collaborate with other staff members to create promotional materials for various ministries of the church
Administrative
- Provide administrative support to the pastoral staff
- Understand and be able to train staff and volunteers on the use of databases, phone systems, and pertinent software as well as MAC-driven audio/visual systems
- Prepare worship materials, announcements, and upload graphics to ProPresenter for broadcast during worship services
- Maintain accurate database of church membership information and provide such information to membership secretary
- Maintain church files
- Obtain technical assistance as needed for church technology
- Prepare standard reports and ad hoc reports as requested by the District, pastors, staff, and volunteers
- Communicate with contracted service providers such as graphic designers, printers, database providers, bookkeepers, and information technologists
- Provide other administrative support to pastors, church staff, and church committees as requested from time to time
- Attend Charge Conferences, Communications Committee meetings, Church Council meetings, and other meetings as requested
Financial
- Maintain budget and upload properly coded bills
- Sign checks for payment
- Assist Financial Secretary as needed to process and report receipts and to process donations
- Assist Stewardship Committee Chair as needed with campaign mailings and reports
Minimum Requirements
Proficiency in the following programs; Gmail; Microsoft Office Suite; ProPresenter; TouchPoint or similar Church or non-profit database; Constant Contact; graphic design experience similar to Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
