JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting the Merchant with the alignment and implementation of merchandise strategies for one or more summaries in a Brand. Assist with product development, pricing, financial analysis, monitoring trends, and administrative support within a Brand to ensure the achievement of the Brand’s plan.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with building the right assortment and with defining pricing, quality, and other key aspects
- Gather and analyze market research and trend reports (from fashion publications, trade magazines, internet research, social networks, etc.) in order to compile and present findings once a season
- Gather and analyze competitive shopping information to understand trends, pricing opportunities, marketing concepts, etc
- Understand product cost components as provided by Sourcing in order to help develop a quality assortment that conveys value and stays within budgetary and pricing guidelines
Financial Analysis/Monitoring of Data Trends:
- Assist with consumer and competitor research
- Assist Merchant by reviewing metrics and evaluating productivity to help make assortment decisions
- Review business reports on a regular basis to understand trends, determine if financial targets are being met, and recommend opportunities within each category
- Understand results of new test product (SKU performance) throughout the year to quantify investment risk and expansion opportunity
- Manage program sheet process in order to maintain records of products and monitor product performance
- Assist with implementing item pricing strategies to maximize gross margins while still conveying value to the customer
Administrative:
- Support Merchandising operations through various administrative tasks
- Assist with developing planogram concepts by preparing store assortment set-ups in the mock store to prepare for visual enhancement and for photography
- Coordinate marketing workflow process for Marketing and Visual, including samples, ad prep sheets, ad proofing, sign requests, etc
- Communicate needs for expedited delivery based on advertising, floor sets, and in-stock issues to Sourcing
- Provide updated advertising SKU information to Sourcing in order to prioritize delivery
- Manage item maintenance
- Develop and maintain necessary reports and files for efficient operation
