Description/Job Summary
About the JobSignode Industrial Group is looking for a collaborative Plant Manager with a background in plastics manufacturing who is a true leader that can drive a strong, positive culture throughout the manufacturing and warehouse operations. This position requires a strong operational and analytical mind to constantly seek out improvements in cost containment, standardized processes, performance metrics and inventory levels. The Plant Manager is responsible for leading the strategy and execution related to customer fulfillment, budget, resource utilization, quality, delivery and talent management, as well as fostering a strong safety culture. This individual will be responsible for directing the manufacturing functions at a single location in Darlington, SC, with 40 associates in an industry leading plastics environment - nonunion. The Plant Manager will have multiple direct reports, high visibility plant management, full P&L managing the manufacturing and warehousing operations plus some customer / sales interaction.
Responsibilities:
- Solid understanding of production outputs, budget spending, labor efficiency material efficiency, engineering effectiveness and effective personnel utilization
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills to interact with other business units, employees, and outside vendors
- Drive quality in to all we do to ensure customer satisfaction and prevent repeat issues
- Proven project management, time management and leadership skills as well as problem solving and decision making skills
- Responsible for meeting on time delivery and productivity goals
- Perform those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the manufacturing operations, including provision for the selection and employee counseling and motivation, meeting organization goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the operations
- Direct and develop the documentation and documents to support the facility, equipment, and operations of the facility
- Develop and manage the Capital Expenditure and Operating Expenditure Plan
- Participate in developing and executing strategic initiatives within Operations
- Ensure the objectives of the company are being met directly through the supervision of the plant's management staff
- Define and recommend goals and objectives in each area of the operation
- Develop specific short-term and long-term plans and programs, together with supporting budget and manpower requirements
- Develop and implement cost control measures, cost estimates, manpower and equipment forecasts and annual departmental operating budgets
- Responsible for all aspects of Environmental Health & Safety compliance
- Identify, develop, and challenge top talent to ensure long-term success of the organization
- Support the success of other Signode locations through cross-functional projects, teams, and the sharing of resources
- Bachelor's degree in Management, Business, or Engineering.
- 5 plus years Operations Management experience; prefer plastics/extrusion materials, manufacturing if possible with at least 2 years of Plant Management experience with P&L responsibilities
- Lean experience, budget, operations setup and management
