Exciting Challenges : Broad Function and Purpose of Position:
Assist, support, organize, administer, and maintain various Corporate Environmental Health & Safety Programs. Obtain and maintain accurate information on raw materials, intermediate products and finished goods from Safety Data Sheets and other sources.
Broad Function and Purpose of Position: Raw Material Regulatory expert for Construction Chemical Company responsible for maintaining the safety information for raw materials that are purchased from manufacturers worldwide. Raw Material Specialist operates SAP/Product Compliance that provides the hazard classification and warning label language for all products sold by Sika Corporation and its Subsidiaries. The Corporate Raw Material Specialist works closely with the Global Raw Material Team, Local and Global Product Stewards, Chemical Inventory Specialists, Sustainability Specialists, Chemists, and Suppliers. Sika offers a flexible work schedule.
- Manage Safety Data Sheet (SDS) library for Sika Corporation raw materials.
- Maintain regulatory information about raw materials concerning the classifications, labelling, packaging, and transportation, as well as ecological, toxicological and safety information in SAP ERP systems
- Assist in raw material code creation for new products and acquisitions.
- Contact suppliers regarding updates in GHS classification and Regulatory compliance of raw materials.
- Fulfill customer information requests as they relate to inventory status, hazard classifications, 3TG minerals, banned substances, etc.
- Monitor current chemical regulations and notify organization stakeholders about upcoming changes.
- Support management in interpretation and implementation of federal, state, and international EHS regulations such as OSHA Hazard Communication, TSCA, DSL, 49 CFR, IMDG, IATA, Cal Prop65, and EU RoHS.
- Support Corporate EHS in distribution of labels, SDSs and product warning information / data to other Sika member companies and countries.
- Actively work with Local and Global expert teams to bring products to market.
We Need Your Skills : Qualifications/Experience/Education:
- Bachelor's degree in chemistry or chemical engineering, or related field is preferred but not required.
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in chemistry, product compliance or chemical manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of SAP (ERP) Systems.
- Transportation certification in 49 CFR, IMDG, and IATA preferred.
- Industry knowledge of product compliance is a plus.
- Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Some international travel may be required for training purposes.
