Job Description
Directs and coordinates activities of the production department ‐ plan, organize and control production to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time, within budget and to standard.
J OB R ESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure plant meets profitable production goals and quality goals, while remaining within budget limitations.
- Act as interface between plant management and production staff.
- Lead continuous improvement programs and manufacturing process improvements by applying appropriate processes and problem solving tools such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, etc.
- Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization – consults with Engineering and Maintenance personnel relative to modification of machines.
- Keep abreast of new technology that can be used in the production process.
- Develop production schedules and duty assignments, making strategic decisions as necessary to alter programs when time or budget limitations are reached
- Organize and cross‐train worker teams for maximum production flexibility.
- Provide input in establishing production and quality control standards.
- Lead the coordination and execution of production trials, process improvement projects through team project management.
- Implement and use KPIs to assess, analyze and track manufacturing process as it relates to goals and objectives.
