Position Overview:
Silco Fire & Security is seeking a talented and detail-oriented CAD Drafter to join our team in the Cincinnati and Dayton area. As a CAD Drafter, you will play a key role in the design and layout of fire protection systems for various projects. Working closely with our engineering and project management teams, you will translate conceptual designs into precise technical drawings and plans. Your expertise will ensure that our fire alarm systems meet regulatory standards and exceed customer expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to understand project requirements and objectives.
- Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software to create initial drawings and layouts of fire alarm systems.
- Participate in site walkthroughs with the Sales and Design teams as needed.
- Measure, sketch, and draw building layouts as needed when building plans are not available.
- Under general direction from the Design Supervisor, interpret architectural and engineering plans/specifications to determine the most effective placement of fire alarm devices.
- Assist designers in the preparation of submittal packages and project close-out documentation.
- Assist in the preparation of material lists, specifications, and documentation for project bids and proposals.
- Develop skills over time and work towards becoming a specialized designer in one of Silco’s business lines (fire alarm, sprinkler, or suppression).
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or technical certification in drafting, engineering technology, or related field.
- Proficiency in AutoDesk AutoCAD preferred
- A strong desire to understand fire protection principles and NFPA codes and standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting technical drawings.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and attend meetings as needed.
