The Project Engineer is responsible for executing large scale multi tool programs including scope development, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, performance validation, and production start-up. The position also includes managing and transferring of new products and processes from prototyping to high volume manufacturing (HVM) in a multisite operation.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Lead Engineer on capital projects - overall project management including budget, schedule management, construction management, start-up, conceptual phases, project close-out, scope development, cost estimation, system design, equipment sizing and selection, procurement, installation, check-out.
  • Defining the product and process critical requirements to meeting operational capabilities, including FMEA and control plans
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to establish project and product implementation plan to establish work scope and manage successful transfer of product into HVM
  • Maintain a Master Schedule
    • Responsible for consolidation of Weekly and Monthly Project Reports
    • Ensure all stakeholders aligned prior to finalizing a baseline for the project
    • Assist Project and Product Managers in monitoring overall project progress and ensure change management followed for scope or schedule changes
    • Support the development of and update to a master WBS / project schedule to ensure standardization is effectively used in the scheduling of future projects
    • Identify potential risks / problem areas and advice manager as well as the management with mitigation plan weekly, monthly and quarterly
    • Identify schedule Risks and Opportunities, collaborate with Project team to meet Silfex’s objectives by delivering projects within the timeline set out
  • Cost Management:
    • Monitor project to ensure spend is within budget
    • Understand all requested funding and their requirements against master schedule
    • Monitoring of project scope including application of change-management processes
    • Support in reviewing estimate and justification for change and follow accordingly to Change-Management process.
    • Identify cost Risks and Opportunities, helping collaborate with Project team to meet objectives and to deliver projects at the most optimal value.
  • Risk Management:
    • Work with Project team to identify Risks and Mitigations to the project, processes, and products
    • Summarize mitigation options as necessary and coordinate alignment with project teams, management, etc. to minimize/eliminate risk impacts
  • Document Management:
    • Verify the actual weekly/monthly progress prior to issuing weekly/monthly reporting
    • Ensure weekly and monthly reports issued punctually
    • Create documentation schedule for all required documents based on project scope
    • Support development of master documentation schedule to be included with master WBS / project schedule
    • Coordination with Systems Engineering and Document Control for activity planning, risks and mitigations, to ensure projects are completed within schedule
    • Follow Silfex procedures for project management including Planview software to identify, track, and manage scope, resources, schedule, risks, costs, and deliverables
    • Maintain Benchmarking data (Historical and Market) for both Cost (testing, material, labor, etc) and Time (actual vs planned) collection regularly in the platform.
  • Any other duties that required based on priorities by the management

Maintain organization and cleanliness, housekeeping and 5S within work area. Maintain these areas at the highest degree possible while responsibly escalating any maintenance issues.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering, with 8 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of related experience
  • Knowledge of machining and material removal operations, specifically of brittle materials
  • Planning/scheduling, cost/budgeting, estimating, documentation, or other relevant engineering experience
  • Experience in Lean technologies in a manufacturing environment including advanced problem solving/6-sigma skills
  • Demonstrated skill in process development, SPC, FMEA, and out of control action plans
  • Demonstrated ability to improve process metrics such as cost, yield, and capacity
  • Must be able to work effectively individually and in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Must be able to perform successfully under minimum supervision
  • Competent with MSOffice Suite products and advance skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds. The employee regularly is required to lift up to 10 pounds. The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the environment is moderate.
