SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Accounting Manager is a key member of the management team responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial operations and supporting the business through data-driven insight and proactive problem solving. This role ensures that all financial practices conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal controls are maintained, and financial reporting deadlines are achieved.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly and yearly closing activities to meet deadlines in accordance with public company reporting requirements.
- Prepare and deliver accurate financial statements and related schedules
- Oversee daily cash activities and periodically project future cash position for the purpose of maximizing return on excess cash balances or determining borrowing needs
- Supervise accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Account for all aspects of hourly and salary payroll and related benefits
- Maintain product level standard cost and ensure accuracy of inventory and associated reserves.
- Manage fixed asset records including oversight and timely closure of new capital projects
- Monitor internal controls
- Respond to all internal and external audit requests
- Prepare tax filings and initiate payments related to property and sales/use taxes
- Salary range is $100,000 $125,000
Education Required:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
Experience Required:
- 5-7 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
- 2-5 years in a managerial or supervisory accounting position
- Standard costing and variance analysis
- JD Edwards or similar ERP system
Skills Required:
- Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs with advanced Excel skills
