Job Description
Position: Director, Project Development
Location: Denver, CO
Overview: This position will provide development and pre-construction support activities. This will require coordination with a multitude of teams including Business Development, Utility Planning, Delivery, Engineering, and other Project Development functions to facilitate project needs, including site selection (as necessary to support siting team), site due diligence, site acquisition, entitlements, environmental permitting, real estate permitting, site assessments, budget management, schedule and risk management. This work may require some periods of travel, generally 4-8 days per month. This position will be responsible for managing third party vendors/consultants, provide regular market and project reports to leadership, and any other general project management tasks required for successful project development and pre-construction support.
Main Responsibilities:
This position will lead projects through their entire development life cycle and be responsible for Silicon Ranch's project development work and resourcing within the West region. The Director will oversee a team responsible for managing the schedules, budgets, and risks of the West region portfolio of development assets. This position will support the Business Development team with customer acquisition, PPA negotiations, and in identifying project sites in coordination with the Siting team to support customer needs. Track Business Development activity across WECC markets, develop a strategy for prioritizing the Business Development’s changing needs on a regular basis. This includes title, mineral title, and permitting research, identification and management of planning and zoning challenges and the project management of the overall land development cycle. The position will require extensive market analysis on the State and Local political and permitting landscape for new States and developing actionable plans with the working West team.
This position will work closely with Development Engineering, Interconnection, Siting, Economic & Community Development, Legal, and Utility Planning to identify any early-stage high-level risks to a potential project site. This position will also be responsible for the overall management of all project development work including land research, site diligence, environmental services, preliminary design coordination, Owner permitting, and the general pre-construction related work for the Delivery team. The role will require representation of the organization professionally with landowners, vendors, utilities, local officials, and other project stakeholders.
Essential responsibilities will include: Business Development, Project Finance, and Delivery support, including project development tasks, site selection, survey, geotechnical investigations, preliminary layout, interconnection easements, environmental assessment, mineral title and title research, and permitting. The individual will need to be able to coordinate work with others across the organization.

Qualifications: Exposure or experience to the US energy and/or renewable market required. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) experience preferred.
Education: Bachelor's Degree; additional educational qualifications such as a PMP or MBA considered.
Experience: 6-9 years of work experience in Solar Project Development.
