Position Title: Payroll Specialist
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Terms of Employment: 12-month employment (240 days) with benefits
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience required.
- Familiarity with general ledger and bookkeeping processes.
- In-depth knowledge of payroll laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to interruptions.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive payroll and financial information.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately calculate employee payroll, including hours worked, overtime, and deductions, ensuring compliance with payroll laws and school district policies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and ensure payroll practices adhere to legal requirements.
- Creates and maintains process documentation of workflow and processes.
- Input and maintain payroll and accounting data with a high level of accuracy.
- Review and reconcile employee expense reports, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to school district policies.
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll.
- Accurately post receipts and manage related transactions.
- Ability to meet designated deadlines.
- Create, update, and analyze data in Excel spreadsheets to support payroll and accounting functions.
- Manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively, prioritizing work to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Ability to analyze situations, identify issues and develop solutions.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with employees, management, and external stakeholders regarding payroll and accounting matters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
