Silver Butte Timber Company is seeking to hire a full-time road engineer forester to join our team. This position will be based out of Riddle, Oregon.

Applicants must be team oriented and have strong oral and written communication skills. This is a full-time position with opportunities for exposure to all aspects of forestry within our company. This position will be eligible to participate in the company 401K program, health insurance program, and be provided a company vehicle for use. Salary is dependent upon the skills and qualifications of the applicant.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- This job is 80% field and 20% office based.
- Focus is on all aspects of sustainable forest management, with an emphasis on road engineering. This includes road design, project layout, construction management, mapping, road inventory, harvest layout, and harvest administration. The ideal candidate should possess technical forestry skills and be able to effectively and efficiently manage projects, contractors, and tasks.
- Manage projects from start to finish independently.
- Act as a company representative with contractors, landowners, agencies, and a variety of stakeholders.
- Act as company representative in the event of wildfire and aid in protection of timberlands.
Qualifications:
- Forestry or Forest Engineering degree preferred, but not required
- Industrial forestry experience of 2 years preferred, not required
- Understanding of local resources and forestry in southern Oregon
- Ability to navigate to remote locations within our region, demonstrating skills in mapping and GIS
- Understanding of Forest Practices Act and application on the ground
- Hard work ethic and ability to prioritize efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced work environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to give and receive productive feedback
- Leadership mindset and a desire to grow and develop professionally
