Job Title : Heavy Equipment Technician

Location : 2251 Silver Creek Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76108

FLSA Classification : Non-Exempt

Position Type and Schedule : Full-Time

Schedule : 1st shift- Monday- Friday 6 : 00am-3 : 00pm and 2nd shift Monday through Friday 2 : 00pm-11 : 00pm

Both shift will work on Saturday as needed from 7 : 00am-1 : 00pm

Pay Range : $25.00-$35.00 DOE

About the role

A Heavy Equipment Technician for a mining company is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of large machinery used in mining operations. This includes equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, haul trucks, loaders, and drilling rigs. Given the demanding environment of mining sites, the role requires a deep understanding of mechanical systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems, as well as the ability to work in potentially hazardous conditions.

What you'll do

Maintenance and Repair :

Perform regular maintenance and repairs on mining equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.

Troubleshoot and repair engines, transmissions, axles, and related mechanical systems.

Inspection and Diagnostics :

Conduct inspections to assess the condition of machinery and identify potential problems before they cause breakdowns.

Use diagnostic tools and equipment to test systems and identify issues with engine performance, electrical systems, and hydraulics.

Parts Management :

Order and maintain inventory of spare parts and components for equipment repairs.

Ensure that parts used for repairs meet safety and performance standards.

Documentation :

Keep detailed records of maintenance and repairs, including parts used and time spent on each job.

Follow safety regulations and company policies while working on machinery.

Collaboration :

Work closely with other team members, such as operators and supervisors, to ensure that equipment is serviced efficiently and that operational downtime is minimized.

Train or mentor junior mechanics on proper techniques and safety practices.

Safety Compliance :

Ensure all repair work complies with the company's safety protocols and regulatory standards.

Adhere to safe work practices when working with heavy machinery, chemicals, and fuel.

Qualifications

Mechanical expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex machinery and equipment.

Proficiency in hydraulic and electrical systems .

Ability to read technical manuals and schematics for equipment troubleshooting.

Familiarity with the operation of mining machinery and their various systems.

Experience using diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and pressure testers.

Welding and fabrication skills are often required for certain repair tasks.

Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to work in a physically demanding and potentially dangerous environment.

Education and Experience :

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field is often required.

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with heavy machinery, ideally in a mining, construction, or industrial setting.

Certifications such as ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) or specific certifications for the equipment used in mining (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu).

Work Environment :

Typically works in mining sites that can be remote and challenging environments, requiring long hours and sometimes working in harsh weather conditions.

The role often involves shift work , as mining operations run 24 / 7, which can include night shifts and weekends.

Physical demands include heavy lifting, standing for long periods, and the need to work in tight spaces or on large machinery.
