What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Worker position at Silver Hill Hospital?
The Per Diem Clinical Social Worker provides direct clinical care to patients in a therapeutic outpatient setting. This role involves collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure patient-centered, evidence-based, high-quality care.
Availability required: Weekends only.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Leads groups and/or psychosocial assessments considering the biological, psychological, and systemic perspectives in understanding patients.
- Works cohesively with other team members and departments and is a contributor to the team; actively communicating with supervisor and other Social Workers, as needed.
- Holds self-accountable to helping the patient and family achieve desired results, understanding and identifying professional strengths, limitations and challenges.
- Participate in relevant staff meetings and trainings.
- Conduct group therapy sessions using techniques suitable for the ages of the patients served.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Must have the ability to function optimally in a stressful environment, and the ability to remain calm in emotionally charged situations.
- Experience with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based therapeutic modalities.
- Proficient in group work and family systems approaches.
- Strong experience in comprehensive assessment within a mental health context.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s degree in social work or related field
- Licensed as a Licensed Masters Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) in the State of Connecticut.
- CPR BLS Certification required
- Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Certification required
- Previous experience in a mental health setting.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to walk to common areas for group sessions
