Job Overview
Silver Light Adult Day Center is seeking a passionate and dedicated Activities Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing engaging activities for our members. This role is crucial in enhancing the quality of life for seniors and individuals with disabilities, promoting social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation. The Activities Coordinator will work closely with members, staff, and families to create a vibrant community atmosphere.
Duties
- Design and implement a comprehensive activities program tailored to the interests and needs of members.
- Facilitate recreational therapy sessions that promote physical, emotional, and social well-being.
- Coordinate special events, outings, and group activities that encourage resident participation.
- Assess the interests and abilities of residents to ensure inclusive programming.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and caregivers to integrate therapeutic activities into care plans.
- Maintain accurate records of participation in activities and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Provide direct care to members to include ADLs and IADLs.
- Communicate regularly with members, families, and staff to gather feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Stay informed about aging issues counseling and best practices in senior care to enhance program offerings.
Requirements
- Experience in recreational therapy or a related field is preferred.
- Background in assisted living or long-term care settings is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and staff.
- Knowledge of caregiving practices for seniors and individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self-motivated.
- Understanding of home community care principles is a plus.
- A compassionate approach towards aging issues counseling is essential.
- Flexibility to adapt programs based on member feedback and changing needs.
Qualifications:
- High-school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in recreation or other health care related field preferred.
- NCCAP Certification highly preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office (Windows, Outlook, Excel), with the ability to learn new applications.
- Possess written and verbal skills for effective communication.
- Competent in organizational and time management skills.
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- A valid driver’s license and a driving record consistent with Silver Light’s insurance carrier guidelines.

Position Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
