Summary:
Silver Spruce Montessori School is an authentic Montessori community serving children ages 15 months to Kindergarten. Our school has served children and their families in Grafton, MA and the surrounding area since 1998 with a curriculum focused on curiosity, respect, independence, and the natural environment. We are seeking a passionate Montessori educator to serve as a full-time, year-round Assistant Director starting in summer 2022.
Description:
The Assistant Director is responsible for supporting and developing our Toddler and Children’s House curriculum as well as overseeing our auxiliary programs. This position also assists the Director with planning, managing, marketing and directing the Toddler and Children’s House programs. The Assistant Director is an integral member of the administrative team and reports directly to the Director.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise development, organization, and implementation of all programs ensuring they meet EEC and Montessori standards and best practices
- Work with Director and lead teachers to ensure integrity of Montessori curriculum and develop new curriculum in accordance with Montessori principles
- Oversee, guide, support, and assist lead teachers and assistants in their roles and responsibilities related to classroom and student success
- Support and develop policies and procedures for school-related activities
- Work with teachers to support individual needs of students and families
- Assist in ensuring program and activities meet EEC regulations
- Assist Director with hiring and training of staff
- Assist Director with teacher supervision and evaluation
- Implement and develop professional development opportunities
- Develop, manage, and enhance Extended Day, vacation care, and summer programs
- Explore and implement after school enrichment opportunities
- Collaborate and coordinate with Director and office staff to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
- Assist in ensuring the well-being and safety of children
- Other duties as assigned by the Director
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in education or related field preferred
- Montessori credentials (primary)
- EEC license (Director 1 or 2)
- Experience working in an early childhood setting with a minimum of 10 years of Montessori teaching experience
- Proficiency in Google Workspace
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Passionate about working with children and their families
- Ability to motivate and inspire teachers and staff
- Must be able to relate and interact with staff, students, and families in a warm, kind, and professional manner
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized
