Job Description
As an OSP Technician, you will be responsible for installing and maintaining outside plant (OSP) copper and fiber optic facilities and associated OSP telecommunications equipment. Your duties will include installing direct buried cable and other facilities using plowing, digging, and trenching equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- OSP Facility Installation: Install OSP facilities according to engineered work orders or service orders in compliance with RUS and NEC standards.
- OSP Infrastructure Maintenance: Maintaining OSP infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic cable and distribution systems.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Performing routine maintenance and repair on OSP facilities, buried cable, pedestals, hand holes, manholes, etc.
- Network Interface Devices: Installing and maintaining network interface devices (NID) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT).
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Strong Technical Skills: Strong technical skills and ability to navigate and interpret standard telecommunication prints and mapping.
- Documentation Standards: Meeting documentation accuracy and timeframe standards for closing work orders, cable rearrangements, inventory audits, timesheets, IFTA fuel reporting, DOT mileage logs, etc.
