Restaurant Staff – Lead Server
Full & Part-Time Shifts Available
Location: Ellisville, MO
(Mon-Sun availability)
SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Dining Room Manager, serves residents and guests their meals either in the main dining room or provides room service. This individual will be the Lead Server on assigned shifts with the expectation to lead by example for other servers to follow. This will be a part-time position that requires availability
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures dining room tables are preset neatly with required tableware.
- Ensures all chairs are straightened.
- Ensures water glasses are filled and bread baskets are filled prior to residents’ entry to the dining room.
- Takes menu selections and serves meals to the residents and guests.
- Takes and fill beverage requests and continues to periodically monitor their assigned section to see if resident and/or guests has additional requests.
- Is familiar with menu being served, especially Chef’s Special and Soup of the Day.
- Alert of the likes and dislikes certain food of the residents when serving.
- Ensures fresh flowers for the dining tables are changed weekly with fresh water added daily.
- Alert to service issues and disruptions and informs the Dining Room Manager immediately.
- Deliver apartment room service when requested.
- Clears the tables when residents have completed their meals and buses table as needed.
- Resets the table with tableware and fresh linens for next meal service.
- Cleans and wipes down glassware and tableware so free of water spots.
- Follows daily sanitation cleaning schedules that includes the dusting and cleaning of dining room chairs and vacuuming the carpet.
- Ensures the guests checks are completed accurately.
- Ensures proper storage of food and supplies.
- Attends in-service education programs in order to meet facility educational requirements.
- Must be consistent in taking orders and move quickly to serve in a timely manner.
- Work as a team member.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-3 years of work experience in a customer facing position
- Prior serving experience not required but would be a bonus
- Strong customer service oriented with the ability to work well under pressure are key to success in this role.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to read and write clearly, follow oral and written instructions.
- Experience in serving food and be familiar with menu terms and food items.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Effective verbal and written English communication skills
MATHMATICAL SKILLS:
Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Moderate physical activity:
- Push, pull, and/or lift a maximum of fifty (50) pounds to a minimum height of three (3) feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of fifty (50) feet. Carry tray of dishes or glasses.
- Standing and/or walking for more than eight (8) hours per day.
- Bending and/or stopping for more than one (1) hour at a time.
- Function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with employees and residents.
- Works in a clean, well-lit, well-ventilated kitchen and dining room. Must be able to withstand changes in temperature, if necessary, to enter stand-up refrigerator or freezer. Must be cautious while working in the kitchen area to avoid cuts and burns or when walking to avoid falling on wet slippery floors.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE:
- A clean uniform as approved by the facility, clean shoes, hair secured, and name tag are job requirements.
