What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dog Trainer position at Silverbrook Kennels Inc?
Silverbrook Kennels located on 10 park-like acres in the Fredericksburg/Stafford area is in search of candidates to fill experienced dog obedience trainer positions. We are a business that encourages employees to contribute to the entire company in positive ways. Teamwork is important to this position as you will be collaborating with other trainers on staff.
Silverbrook offers obedience training for a variety of breeds and works closely with pet owners to enhance the quality of life for their dog and family. During our program trainers will ensure dogs master basic commands such as heel, sit, come and down. At the completion of the course dogs will be heeling on and off leash, coming on command off leash, and understanding basic discipline such as no jumping and waiting on command at doors and gates.
Skills are taught so that even with distractions the dogs will adhere to commands. All training is done one-on-one with dogs and addresses training needs specific to pet and family.
We believe owner involvement is a vital to working towards a totally obedient and well-trained dog. We concentrate strongly on good handling skills and positive dog/handler relations. The ability to assess the progress of each dog and provide owners with guidance is a vital skill for a Silverbrook trainer.
