Job Summary: A Quality Technician is responsible for performing inspections, identifying quality issues, analyzing defect trends, and supporting continuous improvement efforts to ensure control panels meet internal and customer requirements. This position ensures that products are built right the first time, in accordance with defined standards and documentation.

The Quality Technician must possess a strong understanding of electrical and/or mechanical systems and demonstrate attention to detail, consistency, and initiative. The individual assigned to this role should be hands-on, collaborative, and proactive in identifying and resolving quality concerns.
This position reports to the Quality Manager and works closely with engineering, production, purchasing, and operations teams.
Responsibilities & Duties:
· Perform in-process, final, and incoming inspections of electrical control panels, subassemblies, and components using drawings, schematics, and checklists
· Verify build quality, wiring accuracy, labeling, torque specs, and component placement per UL 508A and customer requirements
· Document nonconformances clearly and follow up with production or engineering as needed
· Assist with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities
· Support the maintenance of quality records and inspection data, both digital and paper-based
· Help develop and update inspection procedures and work instructions
· Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement projects
· Collaborate with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to resolve quality issues quickly and thoroughly
· Analyze inspection and defect data to identify trends and recurring issues, and present findings to the quality and production teams to support continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications & Skills
· BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Technology (ME Tech), Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
· Quality systems and manufacturing quality with electrical/mechanical products
· Technical education in an electrical or mechanical discipline required — this may include:
- Associate’s degree in an electrical or related field
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Completion of an electrician or electrical technology training program
· 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing quality role (electrical assembly or control panels strongly preferred)
· Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings
· Working knowledge of basic inspection tools (calipers, torque tools, multimeters, etc.)
· Comfortable using tablets or computers for digital inspection checklists and reporting
· Familiarity with Excel or other tools for analyzing data, identifying trends, and supporting quality reporting
· Strong attention to detail and solid communication skills
· Familiarity with UL 508A, IPC/WHMA-A-620, ISO 9001, or similar standards is a plus
Working Environment
· Normal manufacturing conditions always requiring safety observation
· Light physical effort necessary to perform the job
· Working near/around moving mechanical parts
