About the role

Simeon Global Consulting is seeking a GIS Analyst to support disaster response efforts, providing critical GIS analysis and mapping solutions. This role requires onsite presence initially to assist in emergency operations, with the potential for remote work as the project progresses. The GIS Analyst will conduct spatial data analysis, cartography, and database management using GIS software to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. The analyst will work closely with emergency response teams, senior analysts, and stakeholders to ensure accurate geospatial data supports real-time response efforts.

What you'll do

  • Emergency Response GIS Support : Provide real-time GIS analysis, mapping, and data visualization to support emergency response operations.
  • Data Management & Analysis : Manage spatial databases, ensuring data accuracy and security. Perform spatial analysis and generate maps, reports, and visualizations to support disaster response and recovery.
  • Project Support & Execution : Work on defined GIS project tasks under the guidance of senior staff, ensuring timely and accurate completion. Contribute to GIS integration with emergency management systems.
  • Software & Tool Utilization : Use GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) for spatial data management, analysis, and cartographic output. Assist in developing GIS-based applications and dashboards.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration : Work with emergency management teams, government agencies, and cross-functional teams to communicate GIS findings effectively. Simplify complex geospatial concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Training & Mentorship : Support GIS staff and emergency management personnel by providing technical guidance and assistance.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance : Ensure GIS products meet industry standards and organizational policies. Conduct quality control, data validation, and compliance checks.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 1-5 years of GIS analysis experience, preferably in emergency management or disaster response.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS), spatial data management, and cartography.
  • Basic to advanced knowledge of scripting languages (Python, SQL) for automation.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Experience with GIS web development and custom applications.
  • Knowledge of remote sensing and advanced GIS techniques.
  • Previous experience working with emergency management agencies or disaster response teams.
  • Public sector or environmental project experience.
  • Additional Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to work onsite in Kentucky for an initial period.
  • Must pass a background check upon offer of employment.
  • Must be willing and able to travel to various work sites as needed.
  • Must be willing and able to work long hours in emergency response environments.
