Position Summary:
The Director of e-Commerce is responsible for overseeing site performance, conversion optimization, digital merchandising, and customer engagement initiatives. The role will also own and execute third-party marketplace strategy and operations. This position will lead a team of talented e-Commerce specialists to deliver on our e-Commerce strategy, drive revenue growth and enhance the customer experience.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive e-Commerce strategy aligned with Commercial goals, ensuring scalability and innovation to meet evolving customer needs.
- Articulate and execute strategies to enhance the overall site experience, including navigation, usability, functionality, and performance, which ladder to overarching Commercial objectives
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for third-party marketplaces, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives while optimizing operations and profitability.
User Experience and Conversion Optimization
- Conduct regular audits and analysis of the e-Commerce platform to identify areas for improvement in user experience. Leverage customer feedback, analytics, and industry best practices for continuous optimization.
- Oversee the design and implementation of user-friendly interfaces that drive conversions and foster loyalty.
- Drive mobile optimization efforts to ensure a seamless, intuitive shopping experience on all devices.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
Revenue Growth and Performance
- Lead initiatives to optimize conversion rates throughout the customer journey, utilizing A/B testing, user testing, and advanced CRO techniques.
- Collaborate with content and marketing teams to develop engaging product descriptions, imagery, and multimedia content to enhance discoverability and sales.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with marketing, merchandising, platform, and other departments to ensure alignment of e-Commerce initiatives with broader business objectives.
- Collaborate with operations and logistics teams to ensure third-party marketplaces run efficiently and support customer expectations.
Site Performance and Analytics
- Optimize site performance, load times, and search engine visibility through SEO best practices.
- Analyze e-Commerce KPIs, customer behavior, and market trends to identify opportunities for growth
- Leverage analytics tools to monitor performance metrics, generate actionable insights, and provide regular reporting to stakeholders.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of e-Commerce professionals. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
- Manage budgets, forecast sales, and report on key e-Commerce metrics to senior leadership.
Qualifications
Qualifications Required:
- Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, e-Commerce, or related field; MBA, advanced degree or commensurate experience preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in e-Commerce or experience marketplace and strategy development strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of driving revenue growth and profitability particularly in luxury or retail.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions.
- Strong leadership abilities, with experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
Qualifications Desired:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels and with external partners.
- Experience in and knowledge of e-Commerce platforms, marketplace tools, and relevant software applications; Shopify experience is a plus.
- Deep understanding of B2C and B2B e-Commerce best practices, including SEO, SEM, and conversion rate optimization.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Other:
This role will require travel to headquarters in Windsor VT as needed, but no less than once/quarter.
