This role will be mainly on-site (~3 days / week) near downtown Austin, TX with the flexibility to work from home as needed. This role will play a huge part in building the team culture so doing that in person will be a key part of your success.
Our client is a 15-year-old company with a huge consumer following that over the last few years has found great success adapting their wildly popular consumer mobile app for business applications. In partnership with a strong private equity firm, they made a very successful B2B push and currently sit at around 23M ARR. Their mobile app is still completely free for consumers to use and continues to be an amazing source of inbound leads that fuel their growth.
While the financial performance of the company may indicate that they are a more mature organization, it actually still feels like a startup with lightweight processes that encourage speed and agility. The biggest critical success factor for this role is your ability to slot well into this environment and thrive in a company that is mature in some ways but still very "Startup-like" in others.
They are looking for an empathetic and inspiring technology leader passionate about empowering engineers to achieve their full potential. While the CTO's skill set leans more toward technical / architectural / problem solving, we seek a Vice President of Application Development to manage, mentor, and build out a high-performing full-stack application team (Web, Desktop, Mobile, AI). - Backend : C (95%), GOlang (5%)
- Web : PHP (90%), Nodejs (10%), Reactjs
- Android : Java, Kotlin
- iOS : Objective-C, Swift
- Colocated servers - A bit of AWS, mySQL, Mongo, Elasticsearch, and Redis
- Project Management : Asana, Trello, GitHub
- Communication : Gmail (Gsuite), Slack

Act as an inspirational leader, engaging and motivating your team (~20 Direct Reports) to exceed expectations and achieve their best work.Facilitate team discussions, review workflows, and continuously identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.Partner with peers and cross-functional leaders to align priorities and ensure strategic objectives are met.Develop and execute hiring plans, assess capabilities relative to team needs, and build a diverse, high-performing team.Conduct regular 1 : 1s, performance reviews, and career development sessions, and actively support your team’s professional ambitions.Serve as an ambassador for our technical organization by contributing thought leadership through blog posts, external events, and networking opportunities.Who you are
A Proven People Leader : 10 years of experience managing teams with a strong track record of cultivating talent and driving performance.Startup Mindset. This opportunity has elements of both startups as well as more established companies.Technically competent. You don't need to be an expert in our tech stack you need to be technically competent enough to be able to facilitate a conversation between 2 engineers who disagree about a technical decision for example.Full-stack experience and some exposure to Mobile Engineering are a must-have. An understanding of the whole system.Data / AI experience would be a plus.A Strategic Thinker : Experienced in balancing short-term goals with long-term vision to achieve sustainable success.Empathetic and Intuitive : You deeply understand the motivations and needs of individuals and use this insight to align work with team capabilities and interests.
