Role Overview
As VP of Engineering , you will oversee the technical vision, strategy, and execution of SimpliGovs engineering efforts. You will lead a high-performing team to design, develop, and maintain a scalable, multi-region SaaS platform that leverages microservices architecture and Azure Cloud PaaS / IaaS systems . You will also be responsible for overseeing the design and optimization of data systems, including MSSQL , database architecture , and NoSQL implementations , ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and data integrity.
This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking to guide SimpliGov through its next stage of growth and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership :
Define and execute the technical strategy for SimpliGovs SaaS platform, focusing on microservices architecture , multi-region deployments , and high availability .
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of systems on Azure Cloud PaaS and IaaS platforms .
Build, mentor, and inspire a world-class engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation.
In collaboration with the VP of Product Management, build a joint roadmap including prioritization & resource allocation. Manage priorities & decisions based on factors such as technical capabilities, customer / partner / market requests, build-vs-buy-vs-partner, and competitive landscape.
Establish and enforce best practices for secure coding, performance optimization, and scalability.
Implement and refine CI / CD pipelines , ensuring rapid and reliable delivery of new features and updates.
Minimum Qualifications
12 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Advanced experience with MSSQL , including database design, optimization, and query performance tuning.
In-depth knowledge of Azure Cloud PaaS and IaaS systems .
Expertise in secure coding practices and web application security (e.g., HTTP / S , encryption, hashing, authentication, and mitigation of OWASP vulnerabilities).
Strong ability to manage and scale engineering teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Experience with large-scale public sector or government-focused technology platforms.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $200,000-$250,000 bonus benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
