Job Overview:
We’re looking for a Garden Manager with a strong background in horticulture or gardening experience to manage the day-to-day operations of Simply Garden. This role involves overseeing client interactions, project management, scheduling and leading the crew, and ensuring successful project completion.
This position is ideal for someone passionate about plants, skilled in customer service, and eager to gain hands-on experience in garden design, business operations, and leadership. You will play a key role in growing Simply Garden while developing a well-rounded skill set in the green industry.
*This role offers variable hours, typically ranging from 30-50 hours per week, depending on project availability and weather conditions. While we aim to provide consistent work, hours may fluctuate based on seasonal demand.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Relations & Sales
- Respond to inquiries and follow up on leads.
- Meet with clients to understand their garden and landscaping needs.
- Provide guidance on plant selection, design options, and horticultural best practices.
- Prepare proposals and estimates using Simply Garden’s templates and pricing models.
Project & Team Management
- Schedule and oversee a small Simply Garden crew for installations and maintenance.
- Manage purchasing of plants and materials.
- Maintain project timelines and communicate updates to clients.
- Ensure tool care, maintenance, and organization.
- Drive the work truck (pulling a dump trailer) to job sites as needed.
Project Implementation
- Lead and participate in garden installations, including planting, pruning, and maintenance.
- Ensure all work meets Simply Garden’s quality standards and design vision.
Marketing & Business Growth (as needed)
- Support lead generation and customer outreach efforts.
- Assist in social media marketing and brand promotion.
- Identify opportunities to expand services and improve operations.
Requirements:
- Strong horticulture background or extensive gardening experience.
- Familiarity with vegetable gardening, pollinator gardens, native plants, and ornamental perennials/annuals.
- Experience in customer service, sales, or other customer-facing roles preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (required).
- Ability to drive a work truck and pull a dump trailer (training can be provided if needed).
- Physical ability to perform landscaping tasks, including lifting, digging, and planting.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Willingness to sign a noncompete agreement prior to employment.
