QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination equivalent to high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law; two years experience in a related field; see additional requirements in 'REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES."

Family Resource Center Director
PRIMARY JOB GOAL:
Through the Family Resource/Youth Services Center (FRYSC), to assist with the identification and coordination of school and community services to meet the needs of children and families in order to reduce or eliminate barriers to learning and to promote success in school.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to relate to a culturally diverse cross-section of people on a professional basis. Willingness to work a flexible schedule when necessary. Effective organizational, public speaking, and writing skills. Experience in working with low-income families and children. Knowledge of the geographical area. Must provide own transportation. Ability to meet the requirements set forth by Parents as Teachers National Center to be able to receive training as a Parent Educator.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes harmony and good will with the public in a manner that merits their respect and serves as an advocate of children and families.
- Serves as liaison between home, school, and public and private resources continually striving to maintain positive communication.
- Provides families with information to assist them in positive parenting skills and child rearing practices.
- Record-keeping techniques.
- Operation of a computer terminal and data techniques
- Makes home visits as necessary to promote the goals of the FRYSC program.
- Abides by all confidentiality regulations.
- Demonstrates positive communication skills, both oral and written.
- Transports students/families to other agencies/service providers when other transportation is unavailable as necessary.
- Attends trainings necessary to perform job efficiently and to gain knowledge of the FRC.
- Performs related duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Family Resource Center Director and the Superintendent.
- Demonstrates the ability to work as team leader to effectively implement the work plan of the SCFRC.
- Makes periodic assessments of the needs of the community in order to develop effective plans for meeting those needs.
- Consults and collaborates with children, families, teachers, service providers, and the community in gathering and giving information on cases, and in establishing and planning for respective roles in addressing family issues.
- Keeps accurate and sufficient records of cases for use by the Family Resource Center (FRC) and outside agencies when appropriate.
- Promotes and facilitates the delivery of direct services.
- Assists with the collection and dissemination of materials for the Center’s resource/lending library.
- Assists in the development of procedures for an on-going needs assessment.
