Intellectual Property Paralegal

About the Position
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience as an IP paralegal at a national law firm, particularly for individuals with a strong background in Intellectual Property matters. Candidates in this role will enhance their expertise in Intellectual Property Law and Commercial Litigation while contributing to meaningful work in a collaborative environment. Specifically
Key Responsibilities
- Trademark Docket Management:
- Maintain and manage the trademark docket using specialized software.
- Enter new domestic, international, and foreign trademark applications.
- Review and docket deadlines, and update application and registration data regularly.
- Coordinate with attorneys, clients, the USPTO, and foreign counsel regarding trademark matters.
- Prepare client trademark docket reports and respond to status update requests.
- Generate reports on office actions, required amendments, certificates of registration, and grants of protection.
- Obtain necessary Powers of Attorney and legalized documents for foreign trademark matters.
- Prepare written discovery and supervise compliance internally and externally.
- Interact with witnesses to gather critical information and assist in the deposition process.
- Provide support for discovery and substantive motions, including drafting and preparation tasks.
And/Or paralegals with experience in patent litigation or prosecution
- Management and prosecution of client patents both domestically and internationally.
- Duties include the creation, revision, and filing of prosecution documents, communication with foreign associates, and timely reporting of official correspondence.
- Preparing drafts of legal documents, managing U.S. trademark and patent application filings, coordinating communications among attorneys, clients, and external parties, and maintaining thorough records of matter files and data rooms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 3-8 years of recent paralegal experience, with a focus on trademark and copyright or patent matters.
- Proficient in learning and navigating proprietary software systems and databases.
- Skilled in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication and writing abilities, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proactive, responsive, and adept at managing multiple projects for various attorneys while maintaining high-quality output.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $55,000 - $100,000 USD
- Final salary may vary based on factors such as experience, education, certifications, and geographic location.
