YOU
The Fabrication Lead is responsible for supporting team members to achieve safety, quality and production goals through effective leadership and communication. This includes the coordination of work through several operations (NC Punch, press brake, weld, powder coat, and assembly) while maintaining a 48-hour turnaround on all customer orders. The fabrication lead is also responsible for training, addressing employee concerns, and providing feedback for performance appraisals. This position will lead our second shift Fabrication Team and is scheduled Monday – Thursday, 2:30 pm – 1:00 am. This shift is eligible for a $1.00 shift differential.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)
Ensure that the production schedule is followed and direct operations accordingly to satisfy the needs of our customers. (40%)

Represent the Company in the utmost professional manner and in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws; especially when addressing complaints, resolving problems, and all other lead responsibilities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: training of new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and providing input on disciplinary situations. (40%)

Operate equipment as necessary to satisfy production demands and needs of the department including forklift, reach truck and pallet jack. Provide training in proper procedures to team members. Assist employees with set-ups and troubleshooting as necessary. (10%)

Perform quality checks per procedures and post completed Work Orders, ensuring that correct materials, components, quantities, and identification are noted before closing. (10%)
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
If you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. Perhaps some of the following would be helpful too:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED), required.
  • Simpson Strong-Tie Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) Certification (will certify at hire) required.
  • 1 year – certificate from college or technical school; or related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year – experience leading or managing others.
  • Math and Measurements: Able to apply basic Algebra and Geometry concepts. Able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimal equivalents. Able to read a tape measure to 1/32” tolerance, to use combination squares to measure angles to /- 1 degree and ability to use and read a micrometer and interpret blueprints.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of Elimination of waste, Continuous Improvement, 6S and Kaizen.
  • Interpersonal Skills: The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing. The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. The ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Able to effectively communicate in group settings and one-on-one, with all departments and at all levels within the organization.
  • Reasoning: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving variables encountered during the manufacturing process.
  • Problem Solving/Critical Thinking: Ability to identify options for solving a problem encountered during the manufacturing process. The ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Safety: Consistently exemplify the highest of safety standards and monitor others to the same standards. Able to pass OSHA Powered Industrial Truck training. Must wear required PPE.
  • Accountability & Dependability: Able to consistently demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance.
  • Reading Comprehension: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Writing: Able to write routine reports, safety bulletins and procedure manuals
  • Technical: Microsoft Office and Simpson computer applications

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently lift, carry, push and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

Pay
$27.84 - $44.52 / hour
