The administrative assistant is responsible for administrative duties within the athletic department, including, but not limited to : athletic team travel planning and organization, assist with billing and invoice processing, summer camps coordination, assist with home game management, and other duties as assigned by the athletic director. This position provides assistance and support to the Athletic Director to assist with the duties of other Assistant Directors and Coaches as assigned by the athletic director.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university preferred.
  • Experience working in a collegiate athletic program, preferably at the NAIA level is desired.
  • Ability to serve as a strong Christian role model / mentor for student athletes and actively contribute to the spiritual development of athletes.
  • Must possess strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal, in the performance of job duties.
  • Ability to complete tasks that have set deadlines.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Must have and maintain certification of First Aid and CPR
  • General proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Access, etc.)
  • Self-starter, highly motivated and well-organized

  • Perform other duties in accordance with this position as deemed necessary by the immediate supervisor.
  • Essential Functions :

  • Manage, coordinate, and develop all aspects of athletics team travel.
  • Provide administrative support in athletics.
  • Assist with athletic fundraising, alumni activities and public relations as needed.
  • Foster a cooperative work environment and providing mutual support with all constituencies and colleagues.
  • Help the athletic director provide supervision and training to student workers.
  • Produce or assist with production of reports, publications, and illustrations.
  • Process incoming daily mail.
  • Perform diverse clerical duties, assist with appointment scheduling, and special projects for office staff as requested.
  • Assist and / or refer those with questions regarding Simpson University.
  • Anticipate and perform on-going job training as needed.
  • Screen telephone calls and visitors in a polite and professional manner.
  • Operate standard (office equipment, including computer, fax machine, copier, etc.).
  • Willingness to work varied hours when situation requires.
