Position Summary: The Corporate Controller will assist the CFO in ensuring the fiscal viability of the organization through the management of all financial reporting, cash management and projections, audit preparation and compliance with any third-party audits and/or certifications, management and supervision of the Accounting and Billing/Reimbursement teams.
Essential Duties
- Responsible for the coordination and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to both internal and external interested parties.
- Perform financial analyses on the internal operating statements to assist operations in their understanding of financial performance.
- Develop reports at the direction of the CFO and other senior leadership related to any financial, payroll, billing issues as requested for further understanding or reconciliation of issues presented.
- Maintain and develop all Accounting and Billing policies through implementation and monitoring.
- Responsible for daily cash management and reconciliation. Responsible for cash controls and all wire transfers.
- Assist in the preparation, reconciliation and implementation of annual operating and capital budgets.
- Provide overall direction and management of the month end accounting close process to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the close
- Review journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial results and reporting.
- Guide decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing financial policies and procedures.
- Hire and supervise Accountants and Billing and reimbursement team, including work allocation, training, problem-resolution, performance evaluation, motivating employees to achieve peak productivity and performance to achieve departmental goals.
- Provide oversight and direction to the Accounting/Billing departments including: Accounts Payable Specialist, Payroll Specialist, Accountants and the Billing/Reimbursement Manager.
- Mentor the Accounting and Billing team by providing guidance, training, and opportunities for professional development.
- Work with external consultants to ensure timely and accurate completion of all audits, cost reports and tax returns.
Qualifications
Education or Degree Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting. MBA preferred.
- At least 7 years’ experience in accounting operations with 3 years management experience
- Non-profit and/or Senior Living (including senior housing) experience preferred.
- Previous experience with annual audits, year end tax returns, Medicare, Medicaid and other third-party payers preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
Related Skills and Experience:
- Excellent computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong EXCEL skills
- Experience with third party accounting software, knowledge of system setup and conversions
- MatrixCare software experience helpful
- Ability to develop and implement process improvement and efficiencies.
Ability to communicate/present data in a concise, meaningful manner with all staff levels including Senior leadership and Board members.
