Position Purpose:

The Mobile Crisis Response Psychotherapist (Therapist) provides culturally competent screening, assessment, and supportive services to children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing psychiatric crises, and are eligible for MCR services. Responsible for providing psychotherapy and other treatment services that affirm clients’ strengths, broaden their problem-solving abilities, and increase their self-knowledge. Therapist is responsible to ensure that appropriate documentation is completed that is required for billing and coding. The therapist acts as a mentor and leader to newer staff and master’s level students. Candidates must have exceptionally good interpersonal skills, clinical insight, and comfort/experience working with individuals. This job requires rotating on-call shift coverage that includes evenings, weekends and holidays.

Key Job Activities:

  • Completes mobile crisis assessments in the community
  • Provides individual and family crisis intervention and stabilization
  • Provides disposition recommendations/strategies to other care providers
  • Conduct psychotherapeutic and other clinical treatment sessions for individuals, families, and groups
  • Complete all required case records and statistical reporting documentation within specified time frames
  • Provides outreach (home visits, phone calls, letters) in accordance with HFS MCR program guidelines
  • Provide direct service for 70% of work hours
  • Facilitate consultation and outreach to assure the provision of holistic treatment
  • Attend all supervision, staff meetings, clinical case staffing’s, and designed in-service sessions
  • Ongoing community resource development
  • Ongoing monitoring of treatment plan service delivery as it relates to the internal service providers
  • Clinical Competencies
    • Evaluation for suicide: knowledge of risk factors for suicide
    • Evaluation for violence: Knowledge of risk factors for violence
    • Evaluation of case management needs: Knowledge of state, federal, local community financial, social and services resources and of various agencies providing various services in the community
    • Ability to advocate for and with patients and families in utilizing resources and services: Knowledge of medical and mental health systems and various financial and community available and how patients and families can use them
    • Ability to engage a patient therapeutically to help them learn healthy aspects of interpersonal social skills, hygiene and grooming and teamwork in social settings
    • Ability to do individual psychotherapy based on an identified theoretical model (cognitive, behavioral, psychodynamic, interpersonal, or other): Knowledge base of the theoretical underpinnings of the identified style of therapy and having formal/clinical training
    • Ability to do crisis therapy: Knowledge of theoretical paradigm that forms the basis of crisis therapy and its distinction from crisis interventions
    • Ability to do family therapy: Knowledge of family dynamics/systems and how they impinge on behavior and knowledge of theoretical paradigms that are used to change family dysfunction
    • Ability to do group psychotherapy: Knowledge of various or identified paradigms of group processes so as to identify them and use established models to bring out therapeutic change
    • Ability to do clinical supervision: Knowledge of various models of supervision and formal training in how to do clinical supervision
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in social work, Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Marital Family Therapy or related behavioral health program with 2-3 years’ experience is required
  • Master’s Degree preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience Preferred in EPIC and MEDITECH software systems
  • Culturally Competent
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus

Certifications/Licenses:

  • LSW, LCSW, LPC, LCPC or LMFT preferred
  • Valid drivers license and operative vehicle is required

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and talk or hear
  • The employee frequently is required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • General office environment and the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

 

BLOOD-BORNE PATHOGEN EXPOSURE CATEGORY:

  Category 1 - Job usually involves contact with patients or patient’s specimens.  Exposure to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens, is possible

  Category 2 - Job may expose incumbent occasionally or in emergency situations to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens

  Category 3 - Job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, non-intact skin or tissue specimens.  Incumbent does not perform or help in emergency medical care or first aid as a part of his/her job.
