NURSE SUPERVISOR

General Summary:

• The Supervisor functions in a leadership position for the Nursing Department. During a designated time period, the supervisor is administratively in charge of the hospital. The Supervisor responsible to a nurse manager and the Director of Rehab Nursing, reporting any pertinent information to the CNO or nurse manager on call. The Nursing Supervisor assists in fulfilling the vision, mission and values of the department. and is available to provide direct patient care, when necessary.
• Successfully completes evaluations/competencies and corporate compliance in all identified areas.
• Ensures appropriate delivery of care. Utilizes chain of command in a timely manner.
• Provides guidance to nursing staff in the development, implementation, evaluation and communication of a therapeutic plan of care.
• Oversees appropriate parental notification or consent for outside appointments or special tests or procedures.
• Fosters a therapeutic environment by facilitating intra/inter department, interdisciplinary communication and work flow.
• Assumes leadership role in emergency situations, including but not limited to Medical emergencies, fire safety, evacuation, man-made or natural disasters, and other life or environmentally threatening situations. Implements disaster preparedness policy and procedures.
• Participates in orientation and on going instruction of nursing staff. Assures staff participation, cooperation and involvement in activities, which promote excellence in nursing.
• Accepts responsibility for his/her own actions both professionally and personally.

MINIMUM Education:
Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Illinois.
BSN preferred

MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 years of rehabilitation or related experience. Minimum of 1 year of management experience.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Ability to function independently within scope of clinical practice.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven leadership ability.
Knowledge and use of Studer principles.

REQUIRED LICENSES:
Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Illinois.
