Cable Cutting Machine Operator

Overview
The Machine Operator installs, fixes, and operates various types of machinery. Their main duties include performing routine maintenance checks following strict safety regulations and guidelines and operating mechanical or computer-operated equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Operate cable cutting machines to cut cables of various sizes and materials according to production specifications and customer requirements.

· Set up machinery for operation.

· Start machinery and adjust machinery when necessary to improve performance.

· Operate machinery and equipment according to instructions.

· Troubleshoot issues and perform maintenance.

· Perform quality control, follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures and report problems to supervisor.

· Clean machinery and maintain cleanliness in work area

· Verifies specifications by measuring completed component

· Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

· Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.

· Documents actions by completing production forms.

· Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results

· Utilizing prints and work instructions

· Maintains workmanship standards

· Follows material handling procedures

· Work to production schedule and standards

Competencies and Abilities:

· Must be detail-oriented

· Understanding of production and plant processes

· Ability to follow written and oral instructions

· Ability to use basic hand tools

· Basic multiplication skills (the ability to convert inches to feet)

· Basic computer skills

· Good communication skills

• Understanding of cable cutting machinery and processes, with the ability to set up, operate, and troubleshoot equipment.
• Ability to measure accurately and ensure cuts meet precise specifications.
• Knowledge of mechanical systems for basic troubleshooting and maintenance.

Work Environment: This role primarily operates in a production environment.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

Education and Experience Requirements:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to sit and/or stand periodically at a workstation

· Must be able to lift 35 pounds at times.

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

· Quick troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

· IPC certification

· Previous experience operating cable cutting machines or similar equipment is preferred
