The Sinclair Advanced Job Training (AJT) Program provides post-secondary education and related programming to individuals incarcerated through the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC). The Advanced Job Training department is seeking to hire a Regional Manager to support the College’s academic mission by managing (3) Sinclair correctional sites across Ohio – Southeastern Correctional Institution, Correction Reception Center, and Franklin Medical Center.
This position is responsible for supporting Prison Education Specialists and Assistant Coordinators at three sites in the respective region to ensure the following tasks or responsibilities take place per DRC’s expectations:
- Prepare classrooms for student engagement
- Take attendance and call for students who are not present
- Ensure safety and security is maintained
- Be available for student questions and/or concerns
- Ensure courses run as scheduled and will provide a substitute instructor when warranted or will reschedule courses if needed
- Provide holistic support to correctional students in the following areas: academic advising, career counseling, reentry planning, and tutor assistance
- Provide calendars to students listing start/stop dates for each term and deadlines for key activities throughout the term
- Gather and submit all paperwork required per ODRC policies
- Covering duties of Prison Education Specialists and Assistant Coordinators during their absence due to illness, vacation, conference travel, or personal days
- Reporting site status updates to AJT Assistant Director for 3 institutions in respective region
- Ensuring ODRC policies and procedures are carried out throughout the 3 institutions in respective region
- Ensuring ODRC institutional and education paperwork is submitted correctly and timely at 3 institutions in respective region
- Ensuring ODRC attendance and Earned Credit documentation is completed and submitted correctly at 3 institutions in respective region
- Ensuring ODRC completion reports are submitted accurately and on time
- Visiting and observing three institutions in respective region at least twice each month and providing status update to AJT Assistant Director

Principal Accountabilities
- Addressing any daily educational or institutional concerns
- Ensuring ODRC policies and procedures are carried out at Pickaway Correctional Institution & Correctional Reception Center
- Ensuring ODRC institutional and education paperwork is submitted correctly and timely (Earned Credit, Attendance Reporting, Annual Reports, Completion, etc.)
- Covering duties of facility coordinators during their absence due to illness, vacation, conference travel, or personal days
- Visiting and observing three institutions in the respective region at least twice each month and providing status update to the Operations Manager and AJT Chief Officer
- Reporting site status updates to the External Assistant Director and the AJT Chief Officer for Pickaway Correctional Institution & Correctional Reception Center
- Assisting with annual symposiums and other events statement to project realistic sales and expenses for the upcoming fiscal year to determine expected income.
Requirements
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in a correctional, law enforcement, or higher education setting required; previous work experience in a supervisory role and/or an educational setting preferred
- Ability to exercise leadership for education program development in the unique and complex environment of a correctional facility required
- Current working knowledge of and successful professional experience working within the criminal justice system required
- Professional communication skills to include but not limited to oral and written required
- Ability to successfully work with diverse constituents, including college faculty and administrators as well as inmates and staff in correctional facilities
- Ability to supervise staff and manage resource and operations effectively and efficiently required
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously while providing great attention to detail while meeting all prescribed deadlines required
- Current working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to learn necessary college related databases required
- Ability to pass a DRC background check required
