Development Trimmer
Summary of Position
The Development Trimmer works in conjunction with Design and Interior teams to develop and create new concepts in interiors and assist with production, special wishes and after sales interior repairs. This expert craftsperson will carry out intricate stitch work on a variety of specialized sewing and trim tasks, operating an industrial sewing machine to stitch a variety of materials including leather, vinyl, and cloth according to design and build specifications in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”

Compensation
The starting pay range for this position is between $68,640 -75,000 per year, plus an annual bonus plan. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
The Development Trimmer works in conjunction with Design and Interior teams to develop and create new concepts in interiors and assist with production, special wishes and after sales interior repairs. This expert craftsperson will carry out intricate stitch work on a variety of specialized sewing and trim tasks, operating an industrial sewing machine to stitch a variety of materials including leather, vinyl, and cloth according to design and build specifications in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”
Essential Duties
- Develops new concepts, including seat design, development, cutting and sewing, and sewing first off samples and complete design interiors for production intent
- Works with interior teams to design and develop custom interiors, often working with little or no direction
- Manages template design, development of new components, and ongoing refinement of existing designs
- Exhibits understanding of Engineering Drawings and CAD models in order to fabricate new designs
- Creates finalized templates for interior work to be used by the production team
- Assists in special projects and set up of fixtures as required
- Sews and stitches all leather interiors, carpets, headlining, and leather luggage according to the build specification
- Assists other team members in design, production, and engineering as necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of six (6) years of experience sewing high-quality leather interiors and trim for Automotive, Aerospace, and/or Marine applications OR A related degree with 1-2 years hands-on experience
- Advanced knowledge of leather work
- Certification and/or technical automotive program graduate
- Prior experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing
- Prior experience in rapid growth environment
