Position Summary
Under general supervision, the Paint Finish Technician II will carry out paint finishing on Singer luxury vehicles to the absolute highest standard in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.” Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring clear coat has been applied properly to adhere to precise application standards, sanding areas of need using block sanding and rotary machines, thoroughly cleaning vehicle for second coat of clear, and carefully and thoroughly polishing the vehicle using rotary machines, foam pads, and polish.

Under general supervision, the Paint Finish Technician II will carry out paint finishing on Singer luxury vehicles to the absolute highest standard in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.” Responsibilities include but are not limited to ensuring clear coat has been applied properly to adhere to precise application standards, sanding areas of need using block sanding and rotary machines, thoroughly cleaning vehicle for second coat of clear, and carefully and thoroughly polishing the vehicle using rotary machines, foam pads, and polish.
Essential Functions
- Ensures clear coat has been applied properly to adhere to defined quality and precise application standards
- Carefully and precisely uses yellow scuff pads to sand down door jams or smaller areas of care
- Uses heavy grit of block, carefully and manually sands down heavier areas of care
- Accurately refines previous block sanding marks using various orbital sanding machines along with different grit pads
- Uses interface pad for further refinement
- After post-paint sanding is complete, carefully and accurately inspects all areas after sanding for any flaws and imperfections
- Thoroughly cleans automobile with air and solvent wipes and preps for second clear coat application process
- After clear coat application and gas out is complete, carefully sands car again by hand to refine miscellaneous areas using high grit pads (up to 3000 grit)
- Uses rotary machine and compound to carefully remove any sanding marks from the automobile
- Uses rotary machines, foam pads, and polishing compounds to precisely and accurately polish the automobile for a flawless and perfect paint finish
- Performs other duties as assigned
Required Education/Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three (3) or more years of hands-on experience with sanding, polishing and finishing custom paint applications on luxury vehicles, hot rods, or restorations
- Familiarity with painting Porsche 911s
- Familiarity with AkzoNobel paint polishing and Sikkens Autowave® 1.0 and 2.0 processes
- Relevant automotive paint certifications are a plus
- Knowledge of different grit levels and when each is grit is to be applied
- Experienced with manual block sanding methods
- Experienced with various orbital sanding machines and use of different grit pads from 1200-3000
- Experienced with using an interface pad for further refinement
- Mastery in paint finishing and polishing, using various rotary machines, foam pads, and polishing compounds
- Ability to perform quality assurance to precise paint manufacturer and company standards
- Knowledge of basic computer skills, including MS office
- Ability to work in a high-performance, fast-paced team environment
- Effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others
- Team oriented, with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to multiple deadlines
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently
- Excellent time management with an ability to balance multiple projects and timelines and to meet deadlines
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time
- Must be able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move with up to 50 lbs. of force
- Must have high visual acuity to discern small surface imperfections
- Must be able to continuously perform repetitive tasks; possess manual dexterity
- Must be able to inspect automotive parts before and after paint coats to identify any flaws
- Must be able to work extended hours or overtime
- Must be able to wear and properly use required PPE in the production environment
