STARTING PAY: $33.84 - $39.81/ hour (projected annual wage of $75,000 to $88,000 plus overtime)
PROPOSED PAY EFFECTIVE 7/1/25: $35.02 - $41.20/hour (projected annual wage of $82,000 to $96,500 plus overtime)

CIVIL SERVICE TESTING DAY: Applicants who submit a completed application will be required to attend Civil Service Testing on April 17, 2025. Testing day includes a physical agility test, written test, and oral interviews with the Sioux County Civil Service Commission.
P.O.S.T. EXAM SCORE TRANSFERS & CURRENT IOWA PEACE OFFICERS: P.O.S.T. exam scores within 365 days of April 17, 2025 may be transferred to Sioux County by contacting Michelle Monsma. Applicants who transfer a P.O.S.T. score will still need to take the physical agility test and interview. Iowa certified peace officers who are currently working in or are within 180 days of leaving peace officer employment in good standing with an Iowa agency do not need to take the physical agility test or POST exam but will still need to attend an oral interview on April 17, 2025.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE: U.S. citizen; resident of Sioux County, IA; High School diploma or GED; valid Iowa driver’s license; at least 21 years of age, or 18 years of age if have an Associate degree; never convicted of felony/misdemeanor involving moral turpitude; not currently under indictment for any criminal offense; no charges of DWI or DUI; never convicted of any family violence offense; good financial credit rating for last 5 years; uncorrected vision of not less than 20/100 in both eyes; normal hearing in each ear
