What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sioux County Conservation, Park Ranger/Maintenance Technician position at Sioux County, IA?
Description: Full-time position; Responsible for operation of equipment, facility maintenance, and law enforcement of conservation areas in Sioux County.
Work Hours: Seasonal and on demand, nonstandard work week; including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in natural resources, conservation recreation, park management, biological sciences, or a closely related subject preferred. Practical work experience in parks or a related field is a preference.
Requirements:
- Knowledgeable in conservation principles, practices, and trends
- Capable of supervising part-time employees
- Able to communicate with the public in a courteous manner
- Knowledge of, and skill and ability to operate, vehicles, tractors, power and hand tools, and other equipment in a productive and safe manner
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing skills
- Have the ability to routinely stand, sit, kneel, stoop, balance, and climb
- Be able to be exposed to dust, fumes, noise, and be able to routinely lift heavy objects
- Able to maintain a good working relationship with other employees, and the public
- Able to perform strenuous physical labor in all weather conditions
- Able to accept and follow written and oral instructions
- Must be able to acquire an Iowa CDL, Iowa commercial pesticide application license, CPR certification, First Responder certificate, and certification as a Peace Officer through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy.
Salary: $52,000 depending upon qualifications, certification and experience.
